Unfortunately there have been many reported problems and performance issues with this update. Apple has recently updated its base operating software (iOS) for iPad and iPhone.
If you have updated your iPads to iOS 13 then we recommend that you frequently check for a newer update.
The current list of iOS 13 problems includes: High battery drain, Wi-Fi issues, Bluetooth connection problems, random crashes, slow running of Apps and obvious UI lag - slow response to touch.
Some of these problems are new, others have existed since the iOS 12 or via each new iOS 13 update.
If you have updated to iOS13 and you're having problems then the first thing you should do is check for the latest iOS 13 update.
If you have NOT yet updated to iOS 13 - then we recommend you stay on your current version and try the steps below.
First basic Steps
- You can also try deleting the GymAware app and then download it again.
- Try Power cycling your iPad - Press and hold down the home buttons
How to Fix iOS 13 Installation Problems
If your iOS 13 update gets stuck, you should be able to fix it yourself.
First, you will want to perform a hard reset. On older iPad models you’ll need to hold the home button and power button down at the simultaneously. This should cause a device reboot.
If you own an a recent model iPad Pro (>late 2018)
Press and hold down the top power button and either the volume up or volume down button until a slider appears. Slide a finger along the slider to turn off the iPad. Once it's turned off, press and hold the top button again until the Apple logo appears.
How to Fix iOS 13 Battery Life Problems
If your iPads battery is draining faster than it normally does, there are a few things you can try.
If you’re experiencing extreme battery drain after installing the update iOS 13, take a look at our list of fixes. It’ll take you through the steps we usually take when we see abnormal drain.
Turn On Optimized Battery Charging
iOS 13 brings a new feature called “Optimized Battery Charging” which will help reduce battery aging.
The feature learns from your daily charging routine and waits to finish charging your device to 100% until you need to use your iPad
In doing so, it will prevent your battery from sitting at maximum capacity and could extend the overall life of your iPads battery.
In order to turn it on, head into General > Battery > Battery Health and toggle Optimized Battery Charging on.
Disable Widgets
If you don’t use widgets, try disabling them and see if battery life improves. Here’s how to disable widgets on iOS 13:
- Swipe to the right while you’re on your device’s home screen.
- Scroll all the way to ther bottom of your widgets and select Edit.
On this screen you should now see a list of your apps and services. These are your widgets and you might notice that some of them are active. To deactivate a widget:
- Tap the red circle with the white line.
- Tap Remove.
We recommend disabling the widgets you never use. (In some cases, that might be all of them.) If you still notice weird battery drain, return to this screen and go through them one-by-one or disable them all.
Stop Background Refresh
Apple’s Background App Refresh refreshes apps in the background in order to show you the latest data when you open them. It’s a useful feature, but it can also eat away at battery life. If you don’t need it, try turning it off.
To disable the feature, you’ll need to:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Background App Refresh.
- Turn it off for any applications you don’t use.
You can also turn it completely off if you don’t want to go through your apps one at a time.
How to Fix iOS 13 Bluetooth Problems
If you’re no longer able to connect your iPad to you GA PowerTool, here are a few general steps to take:
For older GA POWERTOOLS : DEVICE ID <2700
Forget the Bluetooth connection on your device. Here’s how to do that:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Select the connection using the “i” in the circle.
- Tap Forget this Device.
- Try reconnecting to the GA PowerTool. It should show in the OTHER DEVICES item in the list.
- When it prompts to enter a code for bluetooth pairing request Just press PAIR as fast as you can before the prompt disappears.
If that doesn’t work, try resetting your iPhone’s Network Settings. Here’s how:
- Go to your Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap Reset Network Settings.
This process will take a few seconds to complete and it will cause your iPhone to forget all known Bluetooth devices. It’ll also cause it to forget known Wi-Fi networks so make sure you’ve got your passwords handy.
Immediately following this we recommend that you give your iPad a restart
You can also try resetting your device’s settings back to their factory defaults. Here’s how to do that:
- Head into Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap Reset All Settings.
Bluetooth issues are notorious for being difficult to fix so if none of these things work, you can contact us at support@gymaware.com or directly contact Apple’s customer service team.
How to Fix iOS 13 Wi-Fi Problems
If you’re noticing slow speeds or experiencing dropped connections after moving to iOS 13, try these steps.
Try forgetting the current Wi-Fi network that’s giving you problems. Here’s how to do that:
- In your Settings, tap Wi-Fi.
- Select your connection by tapping the “i” in the circle.
- Tap Forget this Network at the top of the screen. This will cause your iPad to forget the Wi-Fi password so have that handy.

- Go to your Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset
- Tap on Reset Network Settings.
