At what point is does rep detection start and finish?
With the Cloud license, a coach can access each and every rep lifted. Thus further analysis, reporting and comparisons become available.
Once logged into the Cloud, select a dataset that has been collected, then view it in "bar or line graph" format.
When looking at each individual set the default view is the bar graph. We suggest changing the view to the line graph option = top right corner of the view.
Once in this view, you can see that the concentric phase of each rep is displayed as the blue shaded zone.
if you look at that relative to the position of the bar you should be able to determine where the start and finish of each rep.
Please see the example below - Hang Clean
The blue line is the position of the bar, and we have added some context via the text overlay.
The red line is metric, and in this case it is "Power".
The start of the rep is from the start of the 1st pull phase, and the end of the rep should be where the bar position peaks prior to the catch being performed.
Note: This position is NOT the peak height the bar achieves as this position is achieved once the athlete completes the catch and then finishes the stance.
If the measurement were to include the stance portion of the movement then the mean velocity power ect will report low.
There is a case where this can happen, and its more likely when the load is light and the athlete is "catching high".
What happens is there is no distinct catch and the movement continues upwards, with only a slight slowing at the catch. In this scenario, it's possible that the end of the rep includes the catch and stand phase of the movement, and therefore a low Velocity will be reported.
If, as a coach - you suspect this has happened then you should view the result via the Cloud account and edit as below; the Data will be recalculated.
- Move the mouse over the line graph to the point where you think the rep should have ended.
- Click on this point and then choose from the different editing options. In this case, it would be "move end of rep to here".
- The data will then recalculate and a corrected mean Velocity will be recorded.
