FLEX is designed for the barbell.
Our main goal was to design a system that can measure ultra precise barbell exercises and therefore have some limitations regarding the system.
The reflective surface of the mat allows the lasers to get the most accurate readings, which makes it a crucial part of the system. It also needs to be placed flat, some professional powerlifting racks have wide legs that interfere with the placement of the mat. There are a few ways to work around this. A simple fix is to place a board (of equal height to the legs) down making the mat sit evenly. Another thing to remember is the device only needs to be over an even surface at the time of the lift, so just make the mat is flat over the lift path. FLEX is designed to perfectly fit a standard barbell which is 50mm (2inches) in diameter. Although it's rare we understand that some barbells come in different shapes and sizes. To combat this each device is fitted with an O ring allowing the device to fit on bars between 49mm and 50.5mm. In special cases some barbell's have rubber end caps which interfere with the on off bar signals. If this is the case you can disable bar sensor by connecting your device and going to settings.
FLEX uses ultra precise lasers that have a range of 2.2 metres, if an athlete is shoulder pressing above this height the device will lose data points until the device returns within the range. An easy workaround is to place the mat on blocks beside the athlete which brings the device well within range. For more information on this matter please contact info@flexstronger.com
